Photography is the documentation of life, once that shutter has clicked, the moment has passed and history is made. Some may be familiar with project 365, a simple concept, take a photograph everyday for 365 days. This blog is an extension of the project; the goal is to keep photographing every day, who knows how long? It is an excellent archive to look back on, see how things change. Change can be subtle, such as different coloured flowers being planted each year to a changing landscape with buildings being demolished and new ones built. This blog archives life’s diversity and my encounters.

2015 09 21 – Geography students in Soil, Environment and Society pull out soil samples to sieve during the first week of labs. These soils were collected from the Seeley’s Bay Silt/Loam soil profile and will be the key focus of our labs throughout the semester.

2015 09 22 – Geology students work in the Lindsley Earth Sciences Resource Centre and Reading Room located in the Bruce Wing attached to Miller Hall. The resource room once housed books and geology maps; it is now a study place for geology students.

2015 09 23 – Students make their way along the path between Douglas Library and Ontario Hall at Queen’s University on this beautiful sunny day. The temperature for the day reached approximately 21°C.

2015 09 24 – Alex makes her way across a Gibbon Classicline, one of numerous styles of slacklines now available. The company started in 2007 by a group of friends who were avid slackliners.

2015 09 25 – Johnathan and I chill back at the Grad Club enjoying some refreshing pints between classes.

2015 09 26 – Queen’s women’s rugby player #8 takes off with the ball as they take on University of Toronto. Queen’s dominated winning 106-3.

2015 09 27 – The last of the setting sun shines across this tomato in our vegetable/fruit garden. Most of the vegetables and fruits did not grow that well this year.

2015 09 14 – A group of friends sit inside the BioSciences Complex building during the first day of classes. Built in 1997 it incorporates Earl Hall, the original biology building.

2015 09 15 – Hundreds make their way through the main gym at the Athletics and Recreation Centre for the annual Tricolour Open House. The open house highlights extracurricular activities run through the AMS and athletics.

2015 09 16 – Students pick up photocopying and course packs from the Publishing & Copy Centre on the lower level of the John Deutsch University Centre.

2015 09 17 – A photograph of towers 4 & 5 of the Absolute City Centre located in Mississauga. A total of 92 designs were submitted for the international design competition, with the winning design going to Chinese based designer, Yansong Ma.

2015 09 18 – I found this Nikon D7000 on Kijiji. The other day I drove up to Mississauga to pick it up. It is in very good condition with only 10,450 actuations.

2015 09 19 – A couple of baby chickens nestle around a hen at the animal petting enclosure during the fall Princess Street Promenade. Princess Street closed for the day, allowing people to enjoy entertainment, events and local businesses.

2015 09 20 – Students in Soil, Environment and Society, a geography course at Queen’s University, cuts soil cores at a farm near Seeley’s Bay during a field outing. We collected samples from different fields in preparation for the semester’s labs.

2015 09 08 – A couple of Gaels make their way along the path behind Kingston Hall at Queen’s University. Gaels are Arts & Science orientation leaders, who take first year students around to events throughout the week.

2015 09 09 – A first year Con-Ed (Concurrent Education) student with Tricolour face paint listens as various faculty representatives speak during the first day of faculty orientation.

2015 09 10 – A Queen’s University nursing orientation leader, known as a Cape, is covered in Thunder Sludge, a mixture of oatmeal, water and flower. The leaders are called Capes to pay tribute to the first professional nurses, where a cape distinguished their rank.

2015 09 11 – Queen’s University students enjoy the beautiful sunny day on University Avenue during the annual orientation week Sidewalk Sale. This is a very popular event where local businesses, University clubs and other extracurricular activities advertise their services.
