2016 06 13 – Ashley holds Luna, a young Pyrenean Mountain Dog, during a break at a Queen’s intramural baseball game. They are related to a group of dogs known as the European livestock guardian dogs.

2016 06 14 – A waxing gibbous moon, 71% visibility, is seen behind Miller Hall at Queen’s University. The word waxing means the moon is growing while gibbous means it is more then half full.

2016 06 15 – A mailbox stands amongst the trees along the side of Charland Road in Elgin, Ontario.

2016 06 17 – Tim D’eon of Wintersleep, an indie rock band, performs during Rockin the Square at Springer Market Square in downtown Kingston. The band formed in 2001 and originates from Halifax, Nova Scotia.

2016 06 18 – Heather, James and Trish enjoy the beautiful sun while overlooking the Rideau Waterway on top of Rock Dunder. This beautiful 3.9km trail is located approximately 30 minutes north of Kingston.

2016 06 19 – Two baskets of freshly picked strawberries sit between two rows of strawberry plants at the Fruition Berry Farm off Highway 15.  They started picking on June 16^th this year.

2016 06 06 – A player from the Bayridge Blazers catches the ball moments before a Frontenac Falcons player reaches first base during the KASSAA baseball finals. The Blazers came ahead winning 1-0.

2016 06 07 – Cumulus clouds fill the sky while looking down University Avenue at Queen’s University. Cumulus comes from a 17^th century Latin word meaning heap.

2016 06 08 – A ball dahlia is in full bloom outside of City Hall in downtown Kingston; they are native to Mexico.

2016 06 09 – Principal Woolf shakes Derek’s hand moments before I head onto stage from my convocation. I graduated with a Bachelors of Science Honours in Geological Sciences with a minor in Geography.

2016 06 10 – A member of the HMS Acasta and Royal Tars of Old England pose for a photograph on the St. Lawrence II during Gunboat weekend in Bath.

2016 06 11 – A snapping turtle (Chelydra serpentina) makes its way across Highway 62 north of Bancroft, Ontario. Grabbing a turtle by its tail can permanently dislocated its vertebrates.

2016 06 12 – Re-enactors acting as members of the Loyalist regiment stand their ground as American troops take aim during the annual Gunboat weekend in Bath, Ontario. The weekend plays out the November 1812 battle where US gunboats attack the Royal George.

2016 06 01 – Queen’s geological engineering students enjoy a reception at Miller Hall prior to their convocation later on in the evening.

2016 06 02 – A teddy bear awaits a new home outside of Grant Hall during Queen’s University convocation ceremonies.

2016 06 03 – A person makes their way along a path beside Battery Park in downtown Kingston. This park was built in 2010 on what was known as ‘Block D.’

2016 06 04 – Heather helps put up a tent at Kurt and Mara’s during a wedding invitation party at their home near Elgin. The wedding is planned for June 1^st, 2018.

2016 06 05 – This is a garnet that was recently found at the Aqua Rose Beryl Pit in Quadeville, Ontario. According to the American Gem Society garnet is the January birthstone.

2016 05 23 – A ring-necked snake (Diadophis punctatus) found in a forest near Quadeville, Ontario. This is the first one I have seen in the wild.

2016 05 24 – A boat sits along the edge of the Portsmouth Olympic Harbour; most boats are in the water and docked, as temperatures begin to feel much like summer.

2016 05 25 – A Queen’s University intramural player on the team, Sliding Plates, is about to make contact with the ball during a game at City Park.

2016 05 26 – A variety of apatite crystals collected from the Miller’s Property, Lake Clear near Eganville. These were collected on Sunday, May 22^nd.

2016 05 27 – A person makes their way in front of what use to be the Tweed and Hickory clothing store. A new Bank of Nova Scotia is to be constructed in its place at the corner of Princess and Wellington.

2016 05 28 – A young member of a local geology club gets a shovel to dig in the soil at the Craigmont Corundum Mine. The mine burned down in 1913 leaving a lot of ore and other minerals behind, perfect for collecting.

2016 05 29 – A granny’s bonnet or columbine (Aquilegia) stands out nicely in the front garden of the Kingston Glass Studio and Gallery on Queen Street. There are approximately 65 different species.
