2016 08 08 – A person heads out into the open water while windsurfing along Kingston’s waterfront.

2016 08 09 – A few cherry tomatoes are turning red and will soon be ready to pick. We have picked several tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers this year but not a lot.

2016 08 10 – High school students watch as a core sample is placed into a compressive strength test at Queen’s University. Students attend various engineering sectors at Queen’s University throughout several days and this was one of the Geological Engineering sessions.

2016 08 11 – Hundreds of people fill Springer Market Square in downtown Kingston for Movies in the Square. This week they were showing the 2015 adaptation of Cinderella.

2016 08 12 – Maryam enjoys the warmth while relaxing on a picnic table along the shoreline of Lake Ontario in Kingston. Temperatures reached 33°C with a humidex value of 41°C, breaking past Kingston records.

2016 08 13 – A family stands in the middle of Springer Market Square during the famers market. Kingston saw 19.1 millimeters of rain; some needed relief after one of the area’s worst droughts.

2016 08 14 – A mother carries her kid past a variety store in the Pacific Mall in Markham. There are approximately 450 stores ranging from toys to car parts and clothing.

2016 08 01 – Various fluids are tossed out from under the hood of a car during the 185^th annual Napanee Fair demolition derby. The place was packed with every seat being occupied and numerous people sitting on the ground and standing.

2016 08 02 – A fluffy cumulus cloud floats above the Landmark Cinemas in Kingston off Dalton Avenue. A friend and I went to see the new Jason Bourne movie.

2016 08 03 – A player from the Sliding Plates Queen’s intramural baseball team goes for the ball during the last game of the season. Unfortunately the game didn’t end in our favour but it was a good season.

2016 08 04 – A Great Blue Heron (Andea herodias) soars through the sky above Kingston Mills. Females look very similar to the males but are slightly smaller. Their feathers become brighter during mating season and duller in the winter.

2016 08 05 – Billowing cumulus clouds fill the sky above Ajax as a band of thunderstorms roll through in the evening.

2016 08 06 – Painted human models pose as Greek sculptures during the Taste of the Danforth in Toronto. In its 23^rd year approximately 1.6 million attended the three-day festival celebrating Greek culture.

2016 08 07 – Various conveyer belts at the James Dick Quarry in Gamebridge, Ontario are shut down during the weekend, a good time for us to go in and search for fossils. The lowest layer of the quarry contains some well-preserved crinoids.

2016 07 25 – Emily carries Luna, a Pyrenean Mountain Dog, off the baseball diamond after she decided to go for a run.

2016 07 26 – The sun shines on a growing bell pepper in our backyard vegetable garden. Green peppers are slightly less sweet then yellow and orange ones.

2016 07 27 – A crew of young sailors fasten the main sail and jib while docked beside the Holiday Inn in downtown Kingston. The sailboat is the Fair Jeanne, a brigantine from Ottawa sailing mostly from Kingston and Brockville.

2016 07 28 – The beautiful scenery of the Upper Brewers Locks is reflected in lock 44 of the two lock system along the Rideau Canal World Heritage waterway. Robert Drummond took over the construction of the locks in the early 1930’s after John Brewer quit and left Canada.

2016 07 29 – A construction diver hands a piece of tarp pulled out of the water at the Upper Brewers Locks. The divers removed a tea towel that was jamming a lock mechanism preventing the gates from fully closing.

2016 07 30 – A person competes in a deadlift competition during the Promenade Throwdown hosted by CrossFit Queen Street and lululemon during the Princess Street Promenade.

2016 07 31 – A competitor in the K-Town Triathlon is helped out of the water after swimming 2 kilometers. The long course includes a 2-kilometer swim, followed by a 56.2-kilometer bike and finishing off with a 15-kilometer run. Jordan Monnink came in first with a time of 02:45:52.5.

2016 07 18 – A group of friends enjoy playing in the crashing waves at the Kingston water treatment plant beside Breakwater Park.

2016 07 19 – Dove, a boxer American bulldog, licks the water off a kiteboarder as he pulls himself out of the water at Breakwater Park in Kingston.

2016 07 20 – Emily reaches for the ball while practicing before a Queen’s intramural baseball game at City Park.

2016 07 21 – A player from a Kingston tier one women’s soccer team kicks the ball away from a Viceroy soccer player during a regular season game at the lower Richardson soccer field. The black team ended up winning.

2016 07 22 – Alex, Tarryn, Regan, Darwin and Elliott pose for a family photograph at Summer Hill. Elliott is the newest addition to the family.

2016 07 23 – A worn down stuffed Siberian tiger sits perched in a tree at the North Baptist dump in Bancroft, Ontario. I went searching for a bear but came out empty handed.

2016 07 24 – Gem, mineral and fossil enthusiasts examine samples during the 20^th annual Bancroft Gem and Mineral Club Show. This year’s show theme was pegmatite minerals.
